Alternative Learning Classroom (ALC)

In the ALC, students receive instruction n areas that support lifelong success and independence:

• Communication Skills: Developing expressive and receptive communication through verbal language, AAC devices, visuals, sign language, and other communication systems.
• Functional Academics: Learning practical reading, writing, math, and problem-solving skills that support daily life.
• Daily Living Skills: Building independence in personal care, hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and household routines.
• Social Skills: Developing positive interactions, friendships, and participation in school and community settings.
• Self-Regulation Skills: Learning strategies to manage emotions, transitions, and behaviors.
• Motor and Functional Skills: Practicing skills that increase independence and participation in everyday activities.
• Community and Transition Skills: Developing skills that support successful participation in community environments and future adult living opportunities.

Our classrooms provide structure, consistency, and individualized support. A typical day may include:
