Clear Bag Policy

Sherman ISD implemented a Clear Bag Policy in the 2025-26 school year to enhance safety and security for all students, staff and guests. The policy applies to all middle and high school events, including athletic and fine arts, regardless of venue, and aligns with University Interscholastic League (UIL) standards.
Approved Bags
Patrons may only bring the following types of bags:

Clear quart or gallon-sized resealable storage bags

Clear tote bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”

Small bags or purses no larger than 5.5” x 8.5”

Medically-necessary bags

Diaper bags
Prohibited Bags
Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to:

All purses, bags, and containers larger than 5.5” x 8.5”

Backpacks

Camera bags

Binocular cases

Coolers

Computer bags
Prohibited Items
- Outside food and drinks, with the exception of unopened, plastic water bottles
- Alcoholic beverages
- Controlled substances
- Tobacco, vaporizers/e-cigarettes
- Reusable tumblers, mugs, bottles, cups, etc., even when empty
- Weapons, including knives and firearms
- Pointed objects or objects with sharp and uneven edges
- Pyrotechnic devices, cannons, fireworks
- Portable heaters
- Pets, other than service animals
- Coolers
- Lawn chairs
- Drones
- Whistles, air horns, confetti
- Skateboards, scooters, Frisbees, roller blades, bicycles, balls of any kind (excluding balls used by spirit groups)
