Clear Bag Policy

The policy is designed to enhance safety and security for all students, staff and guests by allowing security personnel to quickly and easily identify prohibited items. The policy is consistent with those already in place in nearby school districts where our students and families attend district events and competitions, as well as those at area sports and music venues.

You will be asked to return the bag to your vehicle. Prohibited bags will not be allowed at middle and high school athletic and fine arts events, regardless of venue. 

All guests, including students, staff, parents and volunteers, are expected to follow the clear bag policy for safety and consistency. All bags are subject to search, regardless of size or type.

News media, working photographers, videographers, and other authorized personnel will need a media credential or sideline pass to carry camera bags and other large equipment into an event.  

Backpacks and other large bags are not allowed and should be left at home or in vehicles prior to entering. Only clear bags or small bags or purses in the approved size dimensions will be permitted. If a student remains on campus after school for an event, their backpack should have already been screened when they entered the building earlier in the day.

No, they can have regular backpacks. The clear bag policy does not apply to the school day. It applies to after-school middle and high school events, including athletics and fine arts. 

Sherman ISD will allow patrons to bring sealed/unopened water bottles to events. These should be plastic, disposable water bottles. 

Please leave reusable tumblers, mugs, bottles and cups such as Yeti or Stanley-style bottles in your vehicle or at home. These will be prohibited, even when empty. 

All other outside food and drinks are prohibited, unless carried in a diaper bag for a young child.

Yes. Parents and caregivers may bring outside food or drink in a diaper bag for their young child.
