School Safety
The safety and security of Sherman ISD students and staff is a top priority, and the district is proud to have its own Police Department, founded in 2021 by Chief Heath Wester. Now nine officers strong and growing, the department leads the district on issues related to school safety and security and is setting a new standard in North Texas for its proactive approach.The department continues to invest in new technology and take additional steps to enhance safety across the district. Although full funding has not been provided by the state of Texas, the Board of Trustees is committed to providing at least one armed officer at every campus and will add continue to police officers as additional funds become available.
