The Sherman ISD Police Department leads efforts to maintain a safe and secure learning environment in SISD schools. Police officers are certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and are trained to:
- Respond in the event of an emergency, providing for the protection of lives and property
- Keep prohibited items out of schools
- Build positive relationships with students and contribute to the educational process
- Preserve the public peace
- Partner with administrators, other agencies and the judicial system to investigate crimes and take enforcement action
- Advance and protect the democratic process
- Defer students away from the criminal justice system, whenever possible and allowed by law
