The Sherman ISD Police Department leads efforts to maintain a safe and secure learning environment in SISD schools. Police officers are certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and are trained to: 

  • Respond in the event of an emergency, providing for the protection of lives and property
  • Keep prohibited items out of schools
  • Build positive relationships with students and contribute to the educational process
  • Preserve the public peace
  • Partner with administrators, other agencies and the judicial system to investigate crimes and take enforcement action
  • Advance and protect the democratic process
  • Defer students away from the criminal justice system, whenever possible and allowed by law

The department is committed to upholding the highest levels of professionalism and ethical standards.
