Health Services

A high school nursing student holds a stethoscope to their chest while an elementary student listens.

Each Sherman ISD campus has a school nurse who serves an important role in your child’s educational experience. Athletic trainers and other health professionals also provide care and support to student athletes. Examples of physical health-related services provided in SISD include:

Health Forms

It may be necessary to provide one of the following forms to your campus nurse.

Families should contact their school nurse if at any time during the school year their student:

  • Is diagnosed with a new health condition
  • Needs over-the-counter or prescription medication while at school
  • Is taking medication at home so that the nurse is aware of your child's health status and can help monitor their condition

Notice and Consent for Health-Related Services

Under Senate Bill 12, passed by the 89th Legislature in 2025, parents may opt their child out of any health-related service offered in Sherman ISD. Consent is assumed if you do not opt out. If you would like to decline health-related services for your child, log on to the district's online registration form and update your child's information under the Restrictions section at any time during the school year. See detailed instructions in English or Spanish. Please also notify your child's school, and staff will be in touch with you for further information.
