Health Services

A high school nursing student holds a stethoscope to their chest while an elementary student listens.

Each Sherman ISD campus has a school nurse who serves an important role in your child’s educational experience. The nurse provides health screenings as well as management of your child’s health needs while they are at school.

Families should contact their school nurse if at any time during the school year their student:

  • Is diagnosed with a new health condition
  • Needs over-the-counter or prescription medication while at school
  • Is taking medication at home so that the nurse is aware of your child's health status and can help monitor their condition

Medication Policy Guidelines

In order for school nurses to provide medication at school, parents must return a completed Request for Medication Administration form with a doctor's signature. This applies to both prescription and over-the-counter medications.
