Grading

A standards-based report card is used in grades PK-2 and a student's progress toward a grade level expectation for reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and behavior. A "grade level expectation" is an end-of-the-year goal, and students should show progress toward that goal on each nine-week report card.

The ultimate goal is to help each student reach their potential, and the best opportunity to achieve that goal occurs when the school and the family collaborate to support students in their education. Parent-teacher conferences are highly encouraged to review specific details and student progress on the report cards.

Standards-Based Grading Information

A progress report details a student's progress in a subject area, specific course, attendance, and conduct/work habits. All elementary students will be sent home with a progress report at the mid-point of the nine-week period, and all secondary students will receive a progress report at the third and sixth week point of the nine-week period. Secondary progress reports are sent electronically, and parents may request a paper copy.

Parents will be contacted if the student is in danger of failing at the progress reporting period or if there is a significant drop in grades. If a student’s grade falls below 75 or is a DN (PK-2nd grade: Does not yet meet grade level standards) after the midpoint of a grading period, every effort will be made to contact the parent/guardian by phone and in writing.
