Student Experience

High school students read to early childhood students as part of a class.
Families searching for the best school district in Grayson County often discover Sherman ISD because of the wide range of academic programs, career pathways and athletics and fine arts opportunities available to students.

SISD students take advantage of robust offerings in advanced academics, career and technical education and dual credit, and have multiple opportunities to participate in athletics, fine arts and cocurricular and extracurricular activities. These experiences allow students to build character and develop essential life skills while putting them on a path to a successful future.

Starting in our early childhood and elementary classrooms, teachers engage students through relevant lessons and hands-on activities, while providing instruction that adapts to each child's unique learning needs. Each elementary campus is home to the Leader in Me program, which brings an emphasis on personal responsibility, collaboration and leadership to students across the district. Through Leader in Me, students are empowered to take initiative, lead by example and strive toward academic and personal goals.

In middle school and high school, students have the opportunity to compete in multiple sports and develop their creative and artistic talents on the stage and in the classroom. A leader in the fine arts, Sherman ISD is home to the only orchestra program in Texoma for middle and high school students, and elementary students receive weekly instruction from full-time art and music teachers at each campus. Design labs and libraries across the district foster innovation, creativity and promote a lifelong love of reading.

CTE Hall at Sherman High School

The district’s comprehensive high school, which opened in 2021 and expanded in 2025, features modern, superior facilities and a large number of programs to meet students' needs and interests.

  • More than 70 advanced academics or dual credit courses are offered in English, math, science, social studies and elective subjects.
  • Career and technical education (CTE) courses are available in more than two dozen pathways of study including health science, electrical engineering, advanced manufacturing, culinary, automotive, cybersecurity, construction and many more.
  • Dual credit courses allow students to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a jumpstart on a postsecondary education and saving thousands in college tuition.
  • Students who complete the Bearcat Collegiate Program graduate high school with an associate degree from Grayson College and college credit that is transferable to other colleges and universities.
