Man Builds a New Home in Sherman

Sherman is a vibrant and welcoming community that combines small-town charm with modern amenities, making it an ideal place for families. The City is experiencing significant growth, with substantial investments enhancing the local infrastructure and economy. Texas Instruments is constructing a $30 billion facility in Sherman, expected to create 3,000 jobs, while GlobalWafers is building a silicon wafer factory that will employ 1,500 people. These projects are transforming Sherman into a hub for the semiconductor industry, expanding employment opportunities across Texoma.

A number of new commercial, mixed-use and housing developments are in various stages of planning and construction, and the City of Sherman is improving roads, parks and other infrastructure to meet the needs of growth and enhance quality of life for residents. This includes the City’s first inclusive playground at Pecan Grove Park-East, improvements at Fairview Park and plans for a new Sharktooth Park at Post Oak Creek, which has become a popular destination for fossil and shark tooth hunting. 

In all, Sherman has 16 parks and three recreational facilities, with space for activities like hiking, biking and pickleball. Community events like free concerts, parades and other family-friendly activities are held year-round, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging. 

An increasing number of national retailers and restaurant chains call Sherman home, along with unique local businesses. Two professional sports teams, Texoma FC and the Sherman Shadowcats, added to the area’s entertainment options in 2024. Sherman also boasts its own symphony orchestra, community theatre and other opportunities for arts enthusiasts. Lake Texoma, Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant and all the amenities and attractions of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are only a short drive away.

Texas Oklahoma Map Shows Location of Sherman

Sherman is the county seat of Grayson County, Texas, and has a diverse population of approximately 45,000 people. Conveniently situated along U.S. Highway 75 near the Texas-Oklahoma border, Sherman is located about 65 miles north of Dallas and 170 miles south of Oklahoma City. It is a short drive from Lake Texoma, a popular destination for outdoor recreation and one of the largest reservoirs in the United States.
