Nondiscrimination Statement

In its efforts to promote nondiscrimination and as required by law, Sherman ISD does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sex, age, disability, or any other basis prohibited by law in providing education services, activities, and programs, including Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The district provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups. 

In accordance with Title IX, the district does not and is required not to discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in its educational programs or activities. The requirement not to discriminate extends to employment. Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the district’s Title IX Coordinator, to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights or both. 

Other federal laws that prohibit discrimination include Title VI, Section 504, the Age Discrimination Act, the Boy Scouts Act, and Title II. Please reference Local Board Policy FFHFB and GKD for more information. 

The following individuals have been designated and authorized to address concerns or inquiries related to discrimination. Reports can be made at any time and by any person, including during non-business hours, by mail, phone or email. During district business hours, reports may also be made in person. Upon the district receiving notice of an allegation of discrimination or harassment, staff will promptly respond in accordance with the process described in Board policy.

ADA / Section 504 Coordinator

The ADA/Section 504 coordinator for students coordinates the district's efforts to comply with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, which incorporates and expands upon the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.
