Strategic Plan

Sherman ISD is creating systems of support to build instructional leadership capacity, improve teaching practices and advance student achievement across our campuses.

The district's strategic plan, developed through the Texas Strategic Leadership (TSL) program, envisions the desired student experience and identifies strategic priorities and initiatives to achieve student outcome goals through the 2026-27 school year. Focus areas include:

  • Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS)
  • Instructional Capacity Building (Coaching)
  • Talent (Recruitment, Development and Retention)

Implementation efforts are focused on developing instructional leaders and building capacity across campuses. From one-on-one mentorship for new teachers to a shared library of model elementary lessons, teachers engage in continuous learning supported by aligned coaching and development systems. This work is reinforced through professional learning communities, where teams use student data and shared expertise to plan intentionally for student success.

The strategic plan was developed through a series of meetings over the course of the 2023-24 school year involving a committee of SISD staff, School Board members, parents and community members. The process was facilitated by Region 10 Educational Service Center (ESC) in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

SISD continues to work to align district and campus systems with key initiatives, and Region 10 provides metrics and other support.
