Safety and Security Committee
The Sherman ISD Safety and Security Committee provides central coordination of safety efforts and assists with drills and exercises, school safety and security audits, policy development, and training. The committee is made up of school district and community partners that collaboratively provide recommendations to the district’s board of trustees and district administrators. The purpose of this committee is specifically related to ensuring the safety and well-being of the students and staff within the district.
Scheduled meetings of the Safety and Security Committee will be posted at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting time, in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. You can find meeting agendas and minutes on the district's public meeting website.
School Health Advisory Council
A School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group of parents, students and staff who provide advice on school health programming. They represent the community in the areas of coordinated school health and address the eight areas of coordinated school health, which are as follows: health education, healthy and safe school environment, health services, physical education, counseling and mental health services, nutrition services, staff wellness promotion, and parent and community involvement.
Section 28.004 of the Texas Education Code (TEC) requires a district SHAC committee to make curriculum recommendations to the School Board in the following areas: human sexuality instruction, child abuse, family violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking.
The SHAC will meet a minimum of four times each year. Meetings are held at the Sherman High School Bistro located at 2907 W Travis Street, Sherman, TX 75092.
