Early Release: 11:45 a.m.
Elementary Schools
- Doors Open: 7:15 a.m.
- School Starts: 7:30 a.m. (Ten minutes earlier than 2025-26)
- Dismissal Begins: 3:15 p.m.
Early Release: 12 p.m.
Middle Schools
- Doors Open: 7:55 a.m.
- School Starts: 8:30 a.m.
- Dismissal Begins: 4:15 p.m.
Early Release: 1 p.m.
Sherman High School
- Doors Open: 7:55 a.m.
- School Starts: 8:30 a.m.

Jefferson Learning Center

School holidays and early release days are planned each year in the district's academic calendar. Be sure to plan ahead and mark these days on your calendar!

Elementary parents, please note that based on designated breaks in the approved 2026-27 academic calendar, 10 minutes have been added to the beginning of the school day in order to meet state requirements for instructional minutes. School hours will be 7:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. at the elementary level. This is consistent with hours for early childhood schools. School hours will remain unchanged at other campuses.
Did You Know?
Elementary and secondary school start times are staggered in Sherman ISD for several reasons! By providing one hour between the start of school at the elementary and secondary levels, Sherman ISD aims to:
- Provide more time for travel between campuses
- Promote prompt, consistent attendance
- Reduce late arrivals
- Support transportation efficiency and reliability through the continued use of a two-tiered bus routing system
