Bond Programs

A grade level collaborative space at Parker Elementary School

Three new elementary schools opened in Sherman ISD for the 2025-26 school year, including a brand-new campus in northwest Sherman named Parker Elementary.

Thanks to voter approval of a $540 million bond program in May 2023, Sherman ISD will open a total of five new schools to accommodate rising student enrollment and further enhance the learning environment.

New Schools

New, larger campuses replaced the old Crutchfield Elementary School and Fairview Elementary School, which were built in the 1950s.

A new elementary called Parker Elementary, named for David and Paula Parker, opened in August 2025 in Heritage Ranch, a master-planned community in northwest Sherman, attracting families moving to or relocating in the Sherman area.

Opening in fall 2027 at the former site of Wakefield Elementary is a new, single campus dedicated to serving some of Sherman ISD’s youngest students. The new early childhood center will offer high-quality Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start to prepare 3- and 4-year olds for success in elementary school and beyond. Wakefield Elementary closed at the end of the 2024-25 school year to make way for the new campus.

Another brand-new elementary school is planned to open on the south side of Sherman at a location still to be determined.

In addition to the new schools, the 2023 bond program will also fund districtwide safety, security and technology upgrades, as well as a new multipurpose stadium at Sherman High School to serve football, soccer, track, band, color guard, cheer, drill team and other school programs and activities. The 8,000-seat stadium is planned to open in 2026, three years sooner than the 2029 opening shared with voters prior to the 2023 bond election.

New Stadium Fact Sheet

Two, three-story additions are complete at Sherman High School. The project added 33,000 square feet to the campus. The 20 new classrooms will allow SHS to serve about 525 additional students, bringing the school’s capacity up to approximately 3,213 students.

Future additions and/or renovations are planned at Piner Middle School, Jefferson Learning Center and Dillingham Elementary, which will be converted to the district’s third middle school as enrollment continues to grow. These exciting projects will provide even more opportunities for students to learn in an innovative, creative and engaging environment.
