    Early Childhood/Kindergarten Roundup Information

    The Sherman ISD online enrollment process for Head Start, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students will open Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15. For your safety and convenience, our entire enrollment process is online and will require WIFI access and a technology device (computer, laptop, tablet,) to complete.

     

    What if I need access to WIFI to complete the online enrollment process?

    Families needing WIFI access to complete online enrollment may connect to our district WIFI hotspots or school bus WIFI hots spots within 250 meters of the following locations:

     

    Sherman ISD Campus WIFI Hotspot Locations

    Time: 7am - 7pm

    Parents can connect using the following credentials: Guest user id: guest_tech20 Password: Summer20

     

    Crutchfield – Front parking lot

    Perrin School – Front parking lot, east side

    Douglass – Front parking lot

    Piner – Parking lots on North and West side of building

    Dillingham – Front parking lot 

    SHS – Parking lots on South and West side of building

    Sory – Front parking lot

    Jefferson – Parking lots on Southside of the building

    Sherman ISD School Bus WIFI Hotspot Locations

    Buses with Wifi may be accessed at the following locations and times. Parents must be within 250 feet of the bus to access the internet on the bus. Parents can connect their device to the Kajeet SmartBus network with the password: smartbus.

    What if I need access to WIFI and a technology device to complete the online enrollment process?

    While adhering to social distancing guidelines, Sherman ISD will provide in-person online enrollment support on Tuesday, May 12, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and Thursday, May 14, at 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Sherman ISD Administration Building south parking lot. Due to social distancing, Sherman ISD will have a limited number of devices available for individuals to complete the enrollment process.

     

    Helpful Tips for Parents during the Online Enrollment Process:

    • Parents MUST have an email before they can enroll a student. 
    • Parents are encouraged to follow each step on the SISD enrollment website. 
    • Parents that may experience difficulty completing the enrollment process or have any login issues, can email enroll@shermanisd.net.
    • Parents who may need support by phone may call the following campus numbers Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:

    Pre-K Eligibility Requirements

    Students who will turn four years of age by September 1 of the current year can pre-register for prekindergarten during Open Enrollment. They must also qualify to attend PreK programs that are offered for free and meet the eligibility criteria listed below.

    A Pre-K child must qualify in one of the following ways:

    • Proof of income: (two most recent paycheck stubs (February 2019 - February 2020 only) or 1040 tax return transcript showing gross income with preparers signature
    • W-2
    • Two paycheck stubs for each job and for each person employed. We will not accept check stubs for the month of March 2020.
    • SSI
    • Pell grants
    • Child support and if you received TANF

    Qualifications for Pre-K include:

    • Child must be 4 on or before September 1, 2020
    • Child must live in Sherman ISD School District
    • Language other than English (child will be tested on April 1 or 2 and a later date to see if they qualify by language)
    • Homeless
    • Income eligible
    • SNAP/TANF will need the EDG #
    • Medicaid card (please bring with you)
    • Active Military – verification of Military ID
    • Foster care – verification letter from DFPS or other official documentation showing child is or was in DFPS care
    • Star of Texas Award – child of a person awarded the Star of Texas Award (peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical first responder)

    *A child must qualify to be in the Head Start or PreK Program. Completion of the application does not qualify a student for the program. Parents will need to provide proof of income to finish the application process.  Proof of income includes 2019 1040 Tax Form for everyone in the household, four most recent paycheck stubs( from December to March), or the other items listed below for each program. 

    Pre K

     

    Early Head Start Eligibility Requirements 

    Early Head Start is a comprehensive educational program for pregnant women, teen parents, and families with infants and toddlers.  Early Head Start will provide quality education to center-based and home-based children and families.

    Qualifications for Early Head Start include:

    • You may be pregnant
    • Your child must be an infant (birth) or a toddler up to the age of 34 months old
    • You must live within the boundaries of Sherman ISD
    • You must be income-eligible and provide proof of income

    Kindergarten Enrollment Requirements

    Parents may upload required documents through the online enrollment system at any time. Documents may also be submitted at your home campus after July 15. 

    Required Documents

    • Parent's drivers license (for identification)
    • Certified birth certificate
    • Child's social security card (optional)
    • Complete up-to-date immunization record
    • Current proof of residence (view accepted documents)
      • If you and your family live with someone else and cannot provide proof of residence on your own, please be prepared to sign a Statement of Residence form.  This form must be signed and notarized by both the parent of the student(s) as well as the person who owns the property. The owner of the residence will also need to provide one of the proofs of residence from the list above.
