Medical Services, Emergencies, & Guidelines

  • School nurses routinely assess illness and treat minor injuries on campus, but they also have the training, skills and resources to assist in the event of a general medical condition or more serious emergency. Response activities include identifying the medical condition, emergent situations, managing the emergency until relieved by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, communicating the assessment and interventions to EMS personnel and following up with the health care provider.

Sherman ISD schools have the following on hand to assist in the event of an emergency:

    • Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs)
    • Protective gear and equipment

Please contact your school nurse for more detailed information regarding emergency protocol.
