The band boosters of Sherman High School are the backbone of the band. Parents and others volunteer countless hours building, feeding, dressing and mending the many students that make up the band program. And we can't do it without you. There are several ways in which you can serve. Below are some of those ways and how you can participate.
Volunteer To Serve in the Concession Stand
If you are interested in helping in the concession stand, here is the link to sign up. Simply create a log in profile and then sign up for everything! (Just kidding)

Friday Varsity--Visitor SideRequired Free Food Handlers License
Become a concession stand volunteer today! The SHS band is in charge of the home and visitor stands at Bearcat Stadium. Not only do we provide concessions for Friday night football games, but also for Thursday freshman and JV games as well as Tuesday Piner Middle School games. The work is fun and not difficult. Simply follow the link below and become a certified food handler. Print out the completed certificate and bring it with you your first time to serve. All volunteers planning on working the concession stand must have this certification before working.Grayson County Food Handlers Permit
Travel ChaperonesBeing a chaperone for the band is not a difficult job. Most of the chaperone responsibilities take place in the fall during marching season. For away football games, chaperones need to be able to ride the bus with the kids to and from the game. Times are usually from about 3pm to midnight. Other trips like marching contests will be an all day affair. Being a chaperone has its perks. You get free food and entrance to away bearcat football games.

Chaperone Background Check
When volunteering to be a chaperone for the Bearcat band, it is required and valuable for anyone who works alongside students. If you have students in several schools at SISD, make sure you click each campus at which you will be volunteering. Here's the link:
Front Ensemble and Prop Crew
Our front ensemble or pit is a large part of the band and is made up of many percussion instruments and sound equipment. This requires several extra people to help get this group on and off the field quickly. This is a fun assignment because it gets you down close to where the action is. There is no heavy lifting involved, just pushing and pulling.
Needs for the prop crew vary from year to year depending on the requirements of the particular show. This year's show includes a very large prop located at center field and comprises of several pieces that are clamped together. The entire prop is on wheels and is pushed to its location.
Help is needed for every football game and marching contest.

Band Uniforms
We are proud of our Bearcat Band and we want them to look their best while on the field! It's a big job to keep almost 200 members looking great and you can help. Knowing how to sew and hem is great and can really help us out, but even if you can just spare some time to help size and organize, that will really be great! The busiest time of year for this opportunity is during band camp during the first few weeks in August. Let us know if you would like to volunteer for this.
