A School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group of individuals made up of staff members and parents who provide advice on school health programming. They represent the community in the areas of coordinated school health and address the eight areas of coordinated school health which are as follows: health instruction, healthy school environment, health services, physical education, school counseling, food services, school site health promotion for faculty and staff, and parental involvement. They may make recommendations about health education curriculum, parental involvement, instruction to prevent the use of tobacco, methods of instruction and curriculum for human sexuality instruction, and related topics. The SHAC must be made up of a majority of parents and must be chaired or co-chaired by a parent.
Meeting Dates:
All meetings are held in the SISD Central Office building at noon.
