My name is Beth Weeks. I have been teaching in Sherman since 1986. I began teaching at Dillingham Intermediate School, 6th grade. I taught Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies. After about 4 years I switched to 5th grade where I also taught Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies. I was also in charge of a small network of computers that was in the 5th grade classrooms.
In 1995 I left the classroom and began working in the Dillingham computer lab. The following year I became the T.S.L. (Technology as a Second Langauge) Director for the 1/3 of Dillingham that was part of the Edison Schools.
In 2000 after moving into a new building I became the Campus Technology Integration Specialist for Dillingham Intermediate School. In 2005 I moved to the Elementary Campuses and have worked at Fairview, Perrin, Neblett, Wakefield, and Jefferson Elementary Schools. I also have supported our alternative campuses: Perrin Learning Center, DAEP, Bootcamp, and JDC.
I am EC-12 Tech App certified and work with our teachers integrating and infusing technology into our core subjects. My responsibilities as an Instructional Technology Specialist includes staff development and supporting teachers with lessons in classroom and lab, as well as hardware and software support. I lead lessons with our teachers in the lab as well as Technology Club for 3rd and 4th grade. Last year we started our very first 4H Robotics competition group and we were very proud of their accomplishments at the G.E.A.R. Challenge. I will have 5 groups competing this year.
I have presented several times at TCEA over the last several years. I was coordinator for the SISD Summer Technology Camp for students. I help lead staff development in SISD during the school year as well as the summer.
