  • Dr. David Hicks

    Dr. Hicks has more than 28 years of experience in public education.  Before coming to Sherman, he served as a leader in three nationally-recognized school districts, most recently in Denton ISD, the second-fastest growing school district in North Texas.  Prior to Denton ISD he served as a principal and assistant principal at elementary, middle, and high schools in Carrolton-Farmers Branch ISD and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.   He began his career as a middle school history teacher in CFB ISD.

    Dr. Hicks earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Dallas, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from UNT as well. In his spare time and when the Bearcats are not playing, he loves spending time with his family, watching Texas Rangers games, and traveling.

    Dr. Hicks has been married to his wife, Tammy, for 27 years.  Tammy is a pharmacist and was employed as a hospital director of pharmacy prior to moving to Sherman.  They have two children, Keaton and Aubrey, and a granddog, Miley.  Keaton is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and is employed with Tyson Foods in Arkansas.  Aubrey is a junior at OSU majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology.
