Wendy Vellotti

Wendy Vellotti was first elected to the board in November of 2020 and reelected in May 2023. She graduated from SOSU with a bachelor's degree focused on education and served ten years as a preschool teacher and Director for School for Little People. She currently works for the United Way of Grayson County.

Due to her commitment to children's growth and development within SISD, she has served for many years in different capacities throughout SISD. Her volunteer list includes previous roles as Dillingham PTA President, Piner PTA Vice-President, SHS PTA Secretary, SHS Band Booster President, SHAC committee member, Sherman Education Foundation member, and substitute teacher at many SISD schools.
 
Wendy and her husband, Chris, have raised three sons, Alex, Anthony, and Preston. They have lived and grown in our Sherman community and belong to First United Methodist Church. Her family enjoys adventures in Scouting, working at the Bob Skaggs Memorial Food Drive, and gardening on her farm, but their passion is watching SHS Band in the half-time show.

Sean Vanderveer

Sean was elected to the board in May 2022. He is proud to be born and raised in Sherman, attending Fairview Elementary, Dillingham Intermediate, Piner Middle School and graduated Sherman High School in 1995. He furthered his education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor in Occupational Safety & Health, a Bachelor of Finance, and an MBA. Sean and his wife, Arie (SHS Class of 1998), are raising three Bearcats. Sean and Arie are called to serve the community. Sean has been involved in revitalizing Downtown Sherman, coaching youth sports, and mentoring youth. He was a founding board member of the North Texas Young Professionals, former member of the board for the Sherman Chamber of Commerce, the Sherman Planning and Zoning Commission, the Sherman Main Street advisory board, and the Community Impact Team for the United Way of Grayson County. Sean and his wife currently serve in the PTA programs at their children’s schools. A former Sherman ISD employee, Sean worked in the Communications Department for five years where he earned multiple awards for District projects. He is currently the Executive Director of the Sherman Housing Authority.

Jennifer Johnstone Shelby

Jennifer was elected to the Board in May of 2022. She was raised in Sherman and is a proud 1998 graduate of Sherman High School. She and her husband, Brandon, have three sons in SISD.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Austin College and a Master’s degree in Education with a minor in Business Management from Texas A&M-Commerce. A passionate educator, she has taught at both the secondary and collegiate level. In 2021, she presented her thoughts on bringing education foundations from “good” to “great” to a nation-wide audience at the National School Foundation Association annual conference. Currently, she is the Director of Finance and Operations for Shelby Law, PLLC, a family-owned law firm in Sherman.

Jennifer loves serving our community and is an active member of the Sherman Education Foundation, the National Giving Alliance, and her children’s PTAs. She is a member of First United Methodist Church, where she teaches youth classes and volunteers with the Children’s ministry and the Hospitality Team. Jennifer is honored to serve our community on the SISD Board to work passionately to ensure quality education for every student.

Nathan Cain

Nathan was elected to the Board in May 2024. He and his wife, Kc, have been residents in Sherman since 2012. They have three children, Jasey, who graduated from Sherman High School in 2023, Ethan, Class of 2025 and Kerrigan, Class of 2029. 

Nathan is a graduate of Christ For The Nations Institute with a degree in Practical Theology. He has been in full-time ministry for 25 years. He is an ordained minister through the Assemblies of God and is currently the senior pastor of Harvest Time Assemblies of God in Sherman. Nathan has devoted his life to serving families and the community. He has enjoyed many years of coaching SYSA baseball/softball, working on committees including Sherman’s Comprehensive Planning, SHAC, D.O.G.S, and as a chaplain for the Sherman Police Department. Nathan is committed to seeing that Sherman ISD is the number one choice for education in Grayson County.

Brad Morgan

Brad was elected to the Board in May 2015. He and his wife, Nicole, are lifetime residents of Sherman and both graduates of Sherman High School (1990 and 1994). He is a Managing Director for Strategic Retirement Partners. Brad has earned the following designations through his career: Charter Retirement Planning Counselor CRPC®, Certified 401(k) Professional C(k)P®, and Retirement Benefits Consultant. He's a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas where he earned a B. S. in Accounting. He also received a Masters in Businesses Administration from the University of Dallas. For many years, Brad has served the community in different capacities on the Sherman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Sherman Planning and Zoning Committee, and is currently on the Greater Texoma Utility Authority Board of Directors. He helped coach youth sports with his three children (Emma, Cooper, and Piper). Brad enjoys playing golf and is a member of Faith Church where he has plays the bass guitar for their music program. Brad loves serving on the Sherman ISD Board because it gives him the ability to create opportunities for all students to be successful.

Anna Wylie

Anna was elected to the School Board in May of 2019. She has lived in the Sherman area for the past 25 years. She is a graduate of Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas, now known as Texas A&M University–Kingsville. Anna is a retired math teacher having taught in the public school system for 27 years. She works part-time teaching at Grayson Institute for Learning, privately tutors, and teaches Homebound students for Denison ISD. She has two sons, Wayne and Wes, both graduates of SHS in 2007 and 2009 respectively. She has two adorable grandchildren. Anna is an active member of First Baptist Church in Denison and co-leads the Salt & Light Ministry there. She is also an active member of the Texoma Patriots. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting and traveling.

David Tarvin

David was elected to the Board in May of 2023. He and his wife Whitney are both graduates of Sherman High School (2005 and 2010). Together, they have three young children that are the future of SISD. As a lifelong resident of Sherman and the son of a former educator, David has strong roots in SISD.

After earning his certification as an audio engineer and touring the country with several different bands, David started his business here in Sherman in 2009. In 2018, he and his sister Kate (Class of 2003) merged their companies together under the name Cadence Studios. Together with their parents, they provide audio-visual services throughout the Texoma region, including Sherman’s Hot Summer Nights and Lights on the Lake concert series. 

David is an Eagle Scout, former captain of the SHS drumline, former foster parent, soccer coach, former board member of Downtown Sherman Now, and was named to the Herald Democrat’s Top 40 Under 40 list. He has also served on several SISD committees and the PTAs at Sory and Dillingham. He and his family are active members of Post Oak Fellowship Church, where David serves on the worship team and as a Lifegroup leader alongside his wife.
