District Enrollment & Community Growth

  • Sherman ISD conducts demographic studies to gain a clearer picture of trends in local housing markets, student demographic and enrollment trends, and community development. 

The Students Are Here - And More Are Coming

    • Sherman ISD enrollment grew by 419 students between 2018-19 and 2022-23, an increase of 5.7 percent.

    • Sherman ISD enrollment is expected to be 9,000-plus in five years and approaching 11,000 in 10 years.

    • By Fall 2032, there are predicted to be an additional 2,992 students enrolled in Sherman ISD. By Fall 2027, an additional 1,277 students are expected to be enrolled. 

    • With current student growth patterns in SISD, the district will surpass its elementary capacity within 3 years; its high school capacity within 7 years; and its middle school capacity within 11 years.

Residential Development

    • Sherman ISD has 20 actively building subdivisions and 20 future subdivisions.

    • The district has roughly 500 lots currently available to build on, with over 6,000 additional lots in the planning stages.

    • Groundwork is currently underway on over 2,000 lots across 12 subdivisions.

    • There are over 600 multi-family units currently under construction within the district. 

    • There are nearly 7,500 additional future multi-family units in various planning stages, including 750 single family rental units.

Future Economic Investments in Sherman

    • Texas Instruments Semiconductor Facility 

      • Texas Instruments has selected Sherman as the site for a new semiconductor fabrication plant. The $30 billion project is the largest economic development investment in Texas history and is slated to employ more than 3,000 people
    • Globitech Silicon Wafer Manufacturing Facility

      • GlobalWafers Co. Ltd. has selected Sherman as the site for a new silicon wafer factory. The 3.2 million-square-foot facility will be the largest of its kind in the United States. The $5 billion project is expected to create 1,500 jobs

    • Coherent Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication Facility

      • Sherman is under consideration for a $3 billion Coherent plant that would produce wafers for semiconductor chips. The facility would initially create 700 jobs with the potential for 4,000
