Meghan Cone, Chief Communications Officer

Cone brings a dozen years of experience in Texas public school communications, including roles in Frisco and Fort Worth ISDs. She also worked for more than five years as a television news reporter, anchor and producer.
As Chief Communications Officer, Cone will provide leadership, vision, direction and execution of communication strategies that promote positive public relations between the school district and community.
“Meghan has a vast wealth of knowledge and experience developing messages and strategies that inform and engage the community,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tyson Bennett. “We are thrilled to have her join our team and to build on a strong foundation of community pride, involvement and support of our students, staff and schools.”
During her decade in Frisco ISD, Cone oversaw and supported a variety of functions including external and internal communications, social media management, web content development and most recently as Frisco ISD's assistant director of communications, she led media relations efforts and served as district spokesperson. She looks forward to bringing leadership in these areas to the growing Sherman ISD community.
“It is an exciting time to be a Bearcat,” Cone said. “As the district looks to the future, I am eager to grow existing relationships and community connections and find new ways to showcase the tremendous learning experiences and opportunities available to students in our schools.”
Cone is a member of both the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), which previously recognized her for excellence in writing and her work on the Frisco ISD website and magazine.
Cone earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and political science from Texas Christian University. She will graduate in May 2023 with a master’s degree in strategic communication and innovation from Texas Tech University.
Cone and her husband Kirby, who is a graduate of Austin College, have three children.
