To begin the special education referral process for your child, submit a written request for evaluation. This can be done by sending an email or hard copy of the request to the campus principal at your child’s school. If your child is too young to enroll in school the request can be sent to the principal at the early childhood campuses (Fred Douglas or Perrin Early Childhood Centers) or the district Child Find contact, Andrea Kennedy lavbrown@shermanisd.net. If you are not sure who to send the request to, you can send it to the Director of Special Education, Dr. Jill Schurr, jschurr@shermanisd.net. To submit a hard copy, bring your written request to Central Office, 2701 Loy Lake Rd, Sherman TX, 75090 ℅ Andrea Kennedy or Dr. Jill Schurr. In your request please include what specific concerns you have regarding your child, and the areas of functioning you are requesting evaluation in (for example, math, reading, behavior, communication, etc…).
