Mrs. Ashley Woods

Woods is a strong, proactive leader who uses a collaborative, data-driven approach to develop effective instructional practices and operational systems.

Before joining the team at Wakefield, Woods spent four years as an instructional coach at Neblett Elementary. In that role, she led instructional design, professional development and support for both new and veteran teachers through planning and mentorship. She also brings nine years of experience as a classroom teacher in Keller ISD, where she taught grades 3-6.

Woods looks forward to continuing to build strong relationships and a positive campus culture to meet the unique needs of students and staff at Wakefield.

“It has been a blessing to work alongside the outstanding students, families and staff of Wakefield as assistant principal, and I’m excited to continue fostering student success as campus principal,” Woods said. “I believe every child has greatness to offer the world, and as educators, we have the privilege of building up our students - helping them grow and learn to walk in that greatness.”

Woods has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and master’s degree in educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University.

She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Matt, for 19 years, and they have three children. Matt is an engineer with Texas Instruments, where he has supported partnerships with Sherman ISD and Grayson College to help train students interested in careers in electrical engineering.

Woods follows Eartha Linson as principal at Wakefield. Linson is retiring this year after nine years as principal at Wakefield Elementary, 13 years in SISD and 26 years total in education.
