Board Members Absent: None
* Dr. Melanie Price, Wakefield Principal, introduced seven 4th
grade Wakefield Koalaty Kids that presented a newscast on the various activities at
Wakefield Elementary School. The seven
Koalaty Kids were Brianna Hughes, Carley Behrend, Savanna Crawford, Audrey Morrow, Calvin
Owens, Mitchell McDougal, and Isaac Rodriguez.
* Dr. Hutto presented SISD Board Member Mae Burton with a Texas
Association of School Board ISD Boardsmanship Basic Certificate
* Mr. Glen Smith of Linebarger Goggan Blair Peña & Sampson, LLP
presented a Delinquent Ad Valorem Tax Collection Performance report.
* The Board accepted gifts to Sherman High School, Piner Middle
School, Fred Douglass School, Crutch-field, Fairview, Jefferson, Perrin, and Wakefield
Elementary Schools in the amount of $15,350.00.
* The Board approved the Proposed 2002-2003 School Calendar with
classes beginning August 19, 2002 and ending May 29, 2003.
* The Board approved the Grant Writing Incentive Plan for SISD
Non-administrative staff. The SISD will
provide monetary incentives of 5% of the face value of the grant(s) up to a maximum of
$3,000 to non-administrative staff members or campus teams who write and receive a funded
grant. This incentive plan will be
implemented effective September 1, 2002.
* The Board approved the expenditures for the month of January in the
amount of $3,227,166.61.
* The Board approved budget revisions among functional expenditure
categories in the General Operating, Food Service and Debt Service Funds.
* The Board approved awarding bids for 2002 Sherman High School/Piner
Football Equipment Bids.
* The Board approved the Call of Trustee Election and Certificate
Order for Establishing Election Precincts for Saturday, May 4, 2002 to fill places 6 and
7.
* The Board approved the Joint Election Agreement with the City of
Sherman for the May election.
* The Board approved the SISD Summer School 2002 plan.
* The Board approved TASB Localized Policy Update 67 as recommended
by TASB Policy Service.
* The Board approved acceptance of SHS Counselor Judy Alemans
resignation for retirement, resignations for retirement of SHS math teacher Yvonne Butler
and Fairview Special Education teacher Jean Martz, and the resignation of Dillingham
orchestra director Pam Foster.
* The Board approved contracts for administrators, principals,
counselors, diagnosticians, and non-teaching positions.
The
