Instructional Arrangements
  

Instructional arrangements available for eligible students include:
  • Content Mastery / Resource:  This instructional arrangement provides special education and related services in a setting other than regular education.  Students are served at scheduled times, or on an as-needed basis.
  • Self-Contained:   This instructional arrangement provides more intense special education services for those students who have more severe challenges.
  • Vocational Adjustment / VAC:  This program offers students who are at least 16 years old and have met prevocational skills requirements to be placed on either a full or part-time job.   Graduation requirements are met after a designated period of successful employment.
  • Mainstream / Inclusion:  This instructional arrangement will provide special education services according to the individual education plan to students whose instruction can be provided in regular education with special education support.
  • Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD):  This program provides services for children 3-5 years old who meet one or more disability category.  The program prepares students for a positive school experience.
  • Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD):  The Regional Day School serves auditorally disabled children from Sherman and Grayson County.  Identified children can begin to receive services at any age (Birth-21yrs).  Instructional setting include early childhood intervention (SKI-HI) at the home, pre-kindergarten, and regular education, and if appropriate, with an interpreter.
  • Speech Therapy:   This instructional arrangement provides special education services for children that are identified by Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE) administered by licensed speech therapists.  They are served in accordance with eligibility and the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Related Services:   Related services are provided when necessary to enable students to benefit educationally.  The Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee shall include appropriate related services in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).  Related services include such areas such as physical/occupational therapy, psychological/counseling services, transportation, interpreters for the deaf, and visual services.
