Washington offered curriculum information and instruction during their Open House time to help the parents better understand what is expected of both child and parents for the school year. When asked what he was learning in school, Washington Elementary first grader Noah Lopez sighed, “It is a lot of hard work and it makes me tired!” “But what are you learning,” insisted his teacher. “I am making tree maps and circle maps,” he stated. Mrs. Davis was well pleased with that answer because that is exactly what they are doing as they build a foundation for reading, writing, and math.
