Congratulations are in order for
Matt Rome, KXII's A+ Athlete for the week of September 10-14. Selections are made based on
academics, community service, leadership, and athletic ability. Teachers and coaches
submit nominations for students who meet these criteria, and the KXII team chooses one per
week. As the Bearcat quarterback, Matt knows how the team depends on you to lead. Both in
the classroom and on the field, Matt sets a good example for others to follow. He
attributes his success to his parents and the time his dad has spent teaching and
encouraging him. Dad is happy with nothing less than the best from me, and he pushes
me in my studies as much or more than he does in my athletics. Matt also plays
baseball and has been contacted by several colleges to play both sports. In May, Matt will
join the other 2007-2008 weekly A+ Athlete winners and be in the running for A+Athlete of
the Year. A $2500 scholarship to the college of choice is the prize. Matt is being
interviewed by KXII's Preston Bartley. Way to go, Matt!
