The STAR Student Advisory
program is in its first year at Sherman High School and is definitely making a difference
with the SHS freshmen and senior students. STAR Student Advisors are a select group of
senior students who are helping freshmen in their transition to the high school
environment. Student Advisors direct activities aimed towards advising freshmen about
topics including school rules, club participation, study tips, social skills, and school
spirit. They work to assist the freshman class to have a positive, proactive outlook on
their high school careers. The program not only benefits the freshmen, but the Student
Advisors are learning leadership skills in the process. The STAR motto is Giving and
sharing knowledge, friendship, and experience.
