The Mighty Ducks on Team 72 in Vivian Fords
reading classes recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage month. The students researched
information about famous Hispanics and read the Cesar Chavez biography. They learned the
importance of the grape boycott in 1967. To conclude the study and celebration, three
Hispanic community leaders were invited as guest speakers in the classroom. Rhonda
Marroquin, Rogelio Herrera, and David Cortinas shared their experiences as an Hispanic
student and stressed the value of education. Mr. Hererra told of his military service to
our country during the Korean and Viet Nam wars. All three emphasized the importance of
respect for one another and diligence in your work. Shown here is Rogelio Herrera with
Mrs. Ford's class.
