Sherman High School seniors
spent part of Martin Luther King day raising funds for their senior prom. It is an annual
event that began fifteen years ago as a way to raise enough money to have a safe, drug and
alcohol free prom, and all night party. The prom dance is held at Tanglewood from
10:00-2:00 and then the games begin. They receive play money for winning at bingo, karoke,
putt putt golf, and a variety of casino games. Between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. an auction is
held, and the seniors use the play money they won to pay for prizes. Prizes include dorm
décor, TVs, microwaves, CD players, and best of all, scholarship money. The senior
parents work hard to make it a fun and memorable occasion. The top Bowlathon fundraiser
for 2008 is Danielle Mohling who is in the center of this picture. Danielle's team was
also the top fundraising team. They are as follows: Bottom (L-R) Toni Arias, Danielle
Mohling, and Stephanie Calhoun. Top (L-R) Jessica Brown, Elizabeth Oltman, and Hillary
Gregory-Allen.
