The Voyager Program is alive and
well at Crutchfield and Fairview. Twelve years ago, Crutchfield principal David Parker
thought there might be a need for after-school childcare. He discovered the Voyager
Program which meets a childcare need with an emphasis on strengthening academics.
Voyager is not babysitting," said director Suzanne Gladen. "It is a well
planned, after school enrichment program which includes work and play. Students
activities vary according to the students need of the day." Homework is
completed, and TAKS tutoring is available as well as lessons from the Voyager program
itself. No child is left behind! Voyager hours are 3:00-6:00 p.m. and enrollment is open
to the public. If you or someone you know needs an excellent after-school program, contact
Suzanne Gladen at Crutchfield Elementary School or Leda Roelke at Fairview Elementary
School. Shown here during Voyager outside play is Sisters of Service member Paige
Armstrong with students Araceli Castillo, Lexi Smith, Mark Cary, Kayle Lawson, Jordie
Holcomb, Jaclyn Rogers, Logan and Layton Elvington, and Chase Parker.
