ATTIRE & GROOMING REGULATIONS
Since the DLC is primarily a place to learn it is imperative that parents, students,
and staff assume and share responsibility for maintaining an optimum environment. Students
are expected to be clean, neat, well groomed and appropriately dressed at school. Any
style of dress or grooming which detracts from instructional activities or which draws
attention to its self is NOT acceptable.
· Students are allowed to wear fingertip length shorts and/or skirts/dresses, provided
they are hemmed or cuffed.
· Shoes must be worn at all times.
· Clothing must appropriately conceal undergarments
Students may not wear:
1. Clothing or articles that are excessively soiled, torn, or ragged.
2. Clothing displaying vulgar writing/symbols, or sexual references.
3. Clothing that is excessively revealing such as mini-skirts, short-sets, tank tops,
halter tops, mesh shirts, shirts that expose the midriff or back.
4. Sagging pants (pants must be worn at waist level).
5. Clothing with alcohol, tobacco, or controlled substances advertisements or references.
6. Hats, caps, bandanas, curlers, or head covers of any type.
7. Exposed spandex shorts.
8. Sunglasses, house shoes, flip-flops, strapless dresses, or spaghetti straps.
9. Clothing with characteristics of sleep wear.
10. Any other apparel which the principal determines to be unacceptable in light of
community standards.
Students may not:
1. Have body piercing anywhere except the ear
2. Have hair dyed or spray painted to an unnatural color.
