Dr. John Hendricks
Sherman School Board President
John is a professor at Southeastern Oklahoma State
University and is currently in his eleventh year of university teaching. He has served as
a member of the Sherman ISD school board since May 2004.
Currently, he is a member of the Sherman ISD Real Estate Committee. He is a former member
of the Board of Trustees of the Sherman Education Foundation (2004-2006), the Sherman ISD
Finance Committee, the Technology Committee, and chaired the districts School Naming
Committee. He is a member of the Wilson N. Jones Hospital Foundation Annual Support
Committee.
Additionally, John is a member of, and holds leadership roles in, numerous state,
regional, and national educational organizations. He is Vice President of the Oklahoma
Broadcast Education Association. His research has been published in scholarly journals,
books, and encyclopedias. He has received University Excellence Awards in both
Research/Scholarly Achievements and Service. John has been the recipient of fellowships
from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the International Radio &
Television Society, and the National Association of Television Program Executives.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi, a masters degree from the
University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and a bachelors degree from Southern Arkansas
University.
He and his wife, Dr. Stacy Hendricks, have two children: Abby, 11, and Haydyn, 9. The
Hendricks family attends First United Methodist Church in Sherman.
