This course is
designed to prepare students for the field of computer maintenance and repair.
During the Fall and Spring semesters, first year students receive job-specific training
for entry-level employment in the rapidly expanding computer maintenance field.
Students receive hands on experience daily; taking the computers apart and working on all
components: memory, disk drives, power supply, video cards, sound, etc... At the end of
the year long course, students should be prepared to pass the A+ certification. A+
certification is equivalent to 6 months job experience in the computer maintenance and
repair field. Second year students receive continued hands-on experience to enhance
their 1st year skills. Instruction will include specific training to become a
certified Microsoft Professional. Students may also receive articulated college
credit for these courses at Grayson County Junior College.
