Individual
User Responsibilities On-line Conduct - The following
standards will apply to all users of the District's electronic
Information/communications systems:
1.
The individual in whose name a system account is issued will
be responsible at all times for its proper use.
2. The system may not be used for illegal purposes, in support of illegal
activities, or for any other activity prohibited by District policy.
3. System users may not use another person's system account without written
permission from the campus administrator or District coordinator, as
appropriate.
4. System users must purge electronic mail in accordance with established
retention guidelines.
5. System users may redistribute copyrighted programs or data only with
the written permission of the copyright holder or designee. Such permission
must be specified in the document or must be obtained directly from the
copyright holder or designee in accordance with applicable copyright
laws, District policy, and administrative regulations.
6. System users may upload public domain programs to the system. System
users may also download public domain programs for their own use or may
non commercially redistribute a public domain program. System users are
responsible for determining whether a program is in the public domain.

Final
Exam policy-
Sophomores,
Juniors and Seniors only:
- 0
absences-Semester grade of 80 or higher
- 1
absence-Semester grade of 83 or higher
- 2
absences-Semester grade of 87 or higher
Exempt
students must report to their designated areas during 6B on
Wednesday, June 3 and 3A on Thursday, June 4 ONLY. The designated
areas will be determined and announced. Exempt students are
not required to report to any other period.

COLLEGE
CREDIT COURSES ON CAMPUS - If a sufficient number of
students enroll, Sherman High School will offer the following
college courses to seniors for concurrent high school and college
credit:
• College Biology - 4 hrs each semester
• Government - 6 hrs (3 hrs State & Local and 3 hrs
• U.S. Govt)
• Economics - 6 hrs (3 hrs Macroeconomics and 3 hrs
• Microeconomics)
• Intro to Criminal Justice - 3 hrs
• Crime In America - 3 hrs
These courses are taught at Sherman High School by college instructors
or, in some cases, a high school instructor who is an adjunct of the
college.
The
student is responsible for the payment of all tuition,fees,
and books to Grayson County College and must meet all of
GCC's entrance requirements.

COLLEGE
CREDIT COURSES TAKEN OFF CAMPUS - Juniors and Seniors
wishing to take college courses on the GCC campus for high school
credit must receive prior approval. The “Dual Credit Approval” form
must be on file in the Counseling Office prior to the student’s
registering for any course. The student must also provide documentation
of registration in the course prior to the class being changed
out of the student’s
schedule. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the Counselor
with a grade report or transcript upon completion of the course in order
for the student to receive high school credit. Interested students should
see their Counselor for more details. Online courses will not be approved
for dual credit. |
| CORRESPONDENCE
COURSES - Two credits of correspondence courses may be
accepted as part of high school graduation requirements for accredited
schools in Texas. The student must have the principal’s prior
approval before enrolling in a correspondence course. Only those
students who are juniors or seniors will be approved for correspondence
course work. |
GRADE
CLASSIFICATION-
9th grade: 0 - 4.5 units of credit
10th grade: 5 - 10.5 units of credit
11th grade: 11 - 16.5 units of credit
12th grade: 17 or more units of credit
Students will be assigned to the proper grade level based on the number
of documented credits earned as of August 1 and will remain in that grade
level for the entire school year. |
| EXIT-LEVEL
TEST - A student who has not
performed satisfactorily on all sections of the TAKS exit-level
assessment instrument by the time he or she has successfully completed
the twelfth grade shall not receive a high-school diploma until
the student has performed satisfactorily on all sections. Education
Code 19 TAC. |
| TECH-PREP -
Tech-Prep is a program that links high school and college programs
for college credit. The Sherman High School Career and Technology
Department offers advanced degree plans for fourteen curriculum areas.
Tech-Prep offers innovative and integrated high school programs allowing
students to receive advanced academic and technological skills for
college credit. Tech Prep/School-To-Work is an initiative to build
collaboration and partnerships between area businesses, schools,
families and community leaders to improve our system of helping youth
in their transition from education to the real world. See pg. 17
for list of courses identified for possible Tech Prep credit. |
| OUT-OF-STATE
TRANSFERS - Out-of-state transfer students shall complete
all state and local graduation requirements to be eligible for
a Texas diploma. Credits required that are not completed prior
to enrolling may be satisfied by advanced placement examinations,
credit by exam for acceleration, completing the course, or demonstrating
achievement by meeting the standard requirements of the course.

| ADDITIONAL
LOCAL REQUIREMENTS- The District may require additional
local credits for graduation under any of the high school programs.
