HEALTH SCIENCE TECH

Health science is a secondary career education program for students interested in pursuing a career in heath care. Every Health Science program provides students with opportunities to explore a variety of health careers and make realistic and satisfying career choices.

Whether a student is skilled in scientific research and design, clinical laboratory procedures, written and verbal communication skills, or client care, career options are available to match these individual interests and abilities.

Enrolling in the health care classes allows you the opportunity to leave high school with health care certification.

Health Science Tech I
Health Science Tech II
Health Science Tech III
Grades 10-12

Subjects included are anatomy and physiology, medical terminology as well as exploring health care careers and consumer health. Provides for the development of multi-occupational knowledge and skills related to a variety of health careers as well as hands-on experiences in clinical settings. An occupational specific course that continues health care related knowledge and skills. Clinical experience continues and becomes more student specific. Students have the opportunity for certification in entry-level health care careers.

Students in the health science classes are encouraged to participate in HOSA
