The Sherman
Education Foundation is planning the seventh annual Circle of Success recognition event on Thursday,
April 3, 2008 to be held in the Wright Center at Austin College. The purpose of the event is to honor students and
teachers in the Sherman Independent School District as well announce the projects that
will be funded by SEF for the upcoming school year.
In early
2008, SEF will invite SHS faculty to nominate Sherman High School students as candidates
to be honored at the Circle of Success event. The selection of the finalists will be based upon
their service, leadership and character exhibited during their tenure with Sherman ISD. The honored students will then select a teacher to
be honored. Their honored teacher will be
selected based upon the positive influence that they have had on the honored student and
can be a teacher from grades K 12.
The Sherman
Education Foundation has funded over $600,000 to innovative campus projects and programs
since its inception through the Circle of Success event. Plans are underway to raise another $50,000 for
projects during 2007-08.
Classroom
teachers are encouraged to write proposals not exceeding $5,000 for innovative classroom
projects or programs that will benefit the entire campus and/or district. The project objectives must improve student
achievement and/or provide enrichment activities that support the Sherman ISD mission. The projects must not be currently funded by
Sherman ISD, i.e. textbooks and basic supplies, and they must benefit a number of
students.
Grant
proposals must be typed in Microsoft Word and sent
as an e-mail attachment to Kathy Bickerstaff (kbickerstaff@shermanisd.net). After e-mailing the proposal, print a hard copy with the signatures of the
proposer(s) and principal and send to the
attention of Kathy Bickerstaff at the Central Office through the school courier mail.
Follow the
format of the Grant Proposal Form document linked below.
Use additional pages as necessary to describe your project. All grant proposals will be screened by the
appropriate Central Office Administrators to determine their suitability for Sherman ISD
and to avoid duplications. The final selection
will be made by the SEF Projects Committee. Your proposal(s) must be submitted by December
21, 2007!
