If you have a math problem you just can't solve on your own, Dr. Math should be able to help. Students may submit math questions by filling out the special form provided at the site. However, they are first encouraged to check out the archives of previously asked questions. The questions are answered by hundreds of college math students who volunteer their time to supply answers to the questions that others submit. There is a section for Elementary, Middle School, High School and College.

Basic Steps to the Research Process

Use this site from the Department of the Interior to help students build knowledge by creating and using digital maps about a variety of topics. NationalAtlas.gov presents the "scientific, societal, and historical information" of the United States. Clicking on the "Atlas Maps" button presents five options for working with digital maps. Of the most interest is the "Interactive Maps" section of the Web site that enables the user to build maps online about a host of topics that include agriculture, invasive species, climate, population and crime, among others. By clicking on the "Identify" button once a map has been drawn, the user can query any specific data point on the map. Using this tool, teachers could build lessons that require the interpretation of visual data.

This site is mainly about looking up words in the dictionary, thesaurus, etc. You can also make your own dictionary, go to the science lab or other places in the "hallway", and compose your own poem by choosing various parts of speech in a "Mad Libs-like" activity. All links and activities are "word" related from buzz words to bulletin board. The site helps to build vocabulary through its "word" activities and popup screens with brief definitions.
