This multimedia website deals with NASA careers and astrobiology research. The concept is to search for and design a habitable planet. Students enter training, are quizzed on their knowledge, and adjust the features of potentially habitable planets to see what makes a planet habitable and why. The recording of student observations ties this activity to the basics of the scientific process.

Cyberchase

Cyberchase is a daily animated adventure television series and multimedia project for children ages 8-11. Cyberchase helps kids discover that math is fun. On a daily basis, the site is updated to provide content specific to the day's broadcast episode. On a monthly basis, an Original Adventure will be added to the site. There is also permanent content. Jamestown Online Adventure

Put your students in the situation of landing in the New World and making all the decisions needed to found a colony. This simulation lets them decide where to land, what to do when they get there, and even how many will be required to do hard labor. There are online helpers in the form of the London Company's Instruction and a Native American neighbor. Players will be scored as to how well they fared given the choices made, and will review what actually happended in Jamestown. This activity requires Flash version 5 or higher.

Manchester Up Close

This site teaches 14-16 year olds the concepts of urbanization using the city of Manchester to demonstrate concepts. Urban issues are conveyed through tutorials, allowing multiple visitors in a game-like format. A history of urbanization is presented briefly on pages with text that doesn't overwhelm. You can enlarge illustrations for further clarification as needed.

Quiz Tree contains dozens of interactive quizzes on topics such as Elementary Math, Fractions, Spanish, Geography, SAT Verbal and Spelling. Some of the quizzes include audio clips and graphics. All quizzes feature animated interface, feedback sounds and other enhancements that make learning more enjoyable. New content is added periodically and educators are encouraged to contact Quiz Tree with requests for new quizzes on topics useful to their students.

Reconstructors Solve Medical Mysteries

Medical Mysteries is an interactive online game. Students solve mysteries and in doing so learn how infectious diseases are spread. The Missions teach the fundamentals of microbiology, infectious diseases, and epidemiology including virtual labs and are aligned with National Science Education Content Standards. Teacher Pages contain lots of downloadable resources. The Center for Technology in Teaching and Learning at Rice University designed this website with funding from the National Institutes of Health.

This site can be used for creating a quick blue print for a house. You can setup the walls and add windows and doors where needed. You can also do a 3D walkthrough of your creation or even view it isometrically (in 3D from an overhead angle). There is also the capability to print out your blue print, which you can do either in landscape or portrait format. Great for giving students an idea of the process of creating blue prints.

A great site for younger students. Online stories, activities and printable activities. The Pre-School Library reads the stories out loud. There is a Spanish version as well as an English version.

The "Improve Your" menu consists of Flash-based tutorials produced by The Adult Literacy Media Alliance (ALMA).
