Student Technology Applications
Third Grade

The third grade year provides opportunities for children to:

  • Insert and resize two or more graphics from more than one source to illustrate a story or concept.
  • Create and edit a story or report using a word processor. Use spell check, modify the test format, align text on a page, use insert and delete keys, and use tab key to indent for paragraphs.
  • Create a multimedia story/presentation, which includes graphics, transitions with sound, and text.
  • Use correct placement for all alphabet keys on the keyboard.

Standard I: Recognize, evaluate, and select appropriate hardware/software.

Standard IV: Apply information and technology tools for problem solving and communication.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATION

A. Plan and create a class multimedia story/presentation. Each child makes one or more slides that will include graphics and text.

B. Create a class or group product/presentation using information gathered from appropriate resources such as CD-ROMS, software, Internet, library databases, and printed materials.
