Student Technology Applications
First Grade

The first grade year provides opportunities for children to:

  • Insert and resize two or more graphics to illustrate a story or concept.
  • Create a document to express ideas using inventive spelling in a word processing, drawing, presentation, or graphics program. Example: Text should contain the child’s name, a paragraph of at least three sentences, each starting with a capital letter and ending in punctuation, and have appropriate spacing between words.
  • Use proper keyboarding skills.

Standard I:    Recognize, evaluate, and select appropriate hardware/software.

A. Demonstrate proper care and handling of disks and CD-ROMs, correctly inserting and ejecting them from their drives.

Standard III:  Demonstrate an understanding of the laws and issues regarding the use of technology in society.

Standard IV: Apply information and technology tools for problem solving and communication.

A. Use a graphics program as a drawing tool and to create geometric shapes.
